One-Half Day Class

USING LOG-NORMAL PLOTTING METHODS TO EVALUATE UNCERTAINTY

This half-day training class introduces the basic concepts of uncertainty and the use of Monte Carlo simulation to model uncertainty in petroleum exploration and development.  The class focuses on the use of log-normal plotting methods to graphically evaluate uncertainty and compare multiple projects.

One-Half Day Class

PETREL TIPS, TRICKS, AND SHORTCUTS

This short, 2-4 hour training session covers some of the basic shortcuts, tips, and "tricks of the trade" in working with Petrel, as well as some of the forgotten (or never learned) fundamental time-saving shortcuts when working in the PC environment.

One Day Class

GEOLOGICAL MODEL FORENSIC ANALYSIS METHODS

Geomodel forensic analysis uses a multi-industry proven approach and an extensive checklist to evaluate the completeness of a geological model.  The class covers evaluation of fundamental input data, interpretive work, property modeling, and volumetric calculations to ensure that any geological model is complete and consistent for use.

One Day Class

GEOMODEL GENERATION FOR GEO2FLOW ANALYSIS

The Geo2Flow analytical software (developed by Dr. Dan O'Meara) is a powerful tool with a wide range of functionality.  In some cases, it is necessary to build a simple geological model in Petrel to be able to use the Geo2Flow software, but many petrophysicists and engineers do not have the modeling experience in Petrel that is needed.  This hands-on class covers the basics of loading well and log data, incorporating simple faults, and generating a model that can be used for further analysis in Geo2Flow

One Day Class

GEOMODELING FUNDAMENTALS FOR RESERVOIR ENGINEERS

This class covers the essential fundamentals of geomodeling techniques, limitations of modeling software applications, upscaling methods and techniques, and best practices for optimizing the modeling-simulation feedback loop.  Understanding the fundamental processes of geocellular modeling is critical for the reservoir and simulation engineer to know what is, or is not possible (or practical) from a modeling standpoint.

One Day Class

GEOMODELING FUNDAMENTALS FOR PETROPHYSICISTS

Petrophysicists typically view a modeling project as a series of isolated control points at well locations (where there is log data available).  This class covers the fundamentals of reservoir property distribution in three dimensions, understanding the capabilities and limitations of modeling software, and how essential it is to start with the end in mind when developing a 3D model for simulation.  As with the companion class for reservoir engineers, understanding the modeling-simulation feedback loop is critical to develop meaningful simulation forecasts.

One Day Class

DATA MANAGEMENT FUNDAMENTALS

Data management is a fundamental part of geological interpretations, geomodeling, and simulation, but it is often assumed that all the required input data for a project is available, organized, and quality-checked.  This is rarely the case.  This class covers the fundamentals of data management, data organization, quality control standards and pitfalls, and and provides a checklist to allow effective audit of fundamental geotechnical data

Time As Required by Client

CUSTOMIZED INDIVIDUAL TRAINING AND MENTORING

In some cases, a client has specific training needs that cannot be filled by traditional commercial training classes. We can provide custom training class curriculum, individual or group mentoring, or whatever the client requires.
