CCUS:Â Â CARBON CAPTURE, UTILIZATION, AND SEQUESTRATION
Helping You Responsibly Manage and Reduce Your CO2 Emissions
Industry trends are pivoting quickly towards a more "carbon neutral" environment in response to recent public and regulatory initiatives. Many oil and gas operators may not have the staff or expertise in one or more areas to address the CCUS landscape.  Our associates have experience in the geoscience, engineering, and regulatory aspects involved with the overall management of carbon dioxide. We can provide support in various CCUS efforts, including (but not limited to) the strategies highlighted below.
UNDERSTANDING CLIMATE CHANGE
The climate change narrative has become a major consideration in various government policies and initiatives. Unfortunately, media and political agendas have left the public (and policy makers) woefully misinformed about the actual scientific facts of the impact of fossil fuels on climate change. As experienced geoscientists, the DHA Team can deliver factual presentations and/or documentation to educate your staff and inform selected audiences who may require updated responses.
CARBON CAPTURE AND UTILIZATION STRATEGIES
There are a wide range of strategies to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, ranging from industrial sources and direct-air capture, to CO2 injection as part of an enhanced oil recovery (EOR) project. Our staff can help you develop a roadmap for CO2 utilization and/or reduction that is applicable for your specific operations.
NAVIGATING THE REGULATORY PATHWAYS
Selected tax credits and economic incentives are available from the Federal Government to help promote CCUS. As part of an overall geoscience and engineering solution, we can help you understand the regulatory environment and the specific tax credit requirements to improve cash flow.
CO2 MANAGEMENT AND UTILIZATION
There are several opportunities for carbon dioxide storage and/or sequestration which include injection as part of an overall enhanced oil recovery (EOR) project, permanent sequestration, or long-term storage. Effectively managing the CO2 cycle is the key component in maximizing your company's field operations.
OILFIELD EVALUATIONS AND RESERVOIR STUDIES
The essential key to carbon dioxide storage and sequestration is identifying and quantifying one or more strategic geological reservoirs. The DHA Team can assist in evaluating the viability of individual reservoirs for enhanced oil recovery (using CO2 injection), storage, and sequestration.
ABANDONDED WELL REMEDIATION STUDIES
Methane leakage from abandoned oil and gas wells can certainly be considered a contributor to air pollution and may play an additional role in affecting climate change. We can work with you to develop a strategy to identify, implement, and monitor remediation plans for abandoned oil and gas wells.
